Draft. This page describes what Carnet does today. It hasn’t been reviewed yet and may change.

Your email address

Carnet uses your email address only to send you sign-in links. Each link works once, for 15 minutes. Your address is never shown to other Members.

Cookies

Signing in sets one cookie, carnet_session, which keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. Signing out clears it. Carnet has no analytics or advertising trackers.

Your IP address

When you ask for a sign-in link, or Report something without signing in, Carnet notes your IP address so it can limit how often that happens. Those notes are deleted after a day.

What is public

Your Handle, Display name, bio and Garage are public, along with every Public Car and its Published Entries. A Private Car with its Entries and Photos, and every Draft, are visible only to you.

Photos

Location and camera details are removed from every Photo before it is stored. Photos are served through links that expire after 15 minutes, and only to someone allowed to see the Entry they belong to.

Reports

When an Entry or a Garage is Reported, Carnet keeps a copy of what was Reported so Moderators can review it, even if it is later edited or deleted. That copy is deleted 90 days after the Report is resolved.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from Settings. That deletes your Garage, Cars, Entries, Photos and sign-in data for good. Your Handle is retired and never given to anyone else. Copies kept for Reports follow the 90-day rule above.
